Aromatherapy Associates Electric Diffuser & Scented Candles Review

The new home care collection includes scented candles and even a detergent. Here is our verdict

If you love the way Aromatherapy Associates bath oil makes your whole home smell like a spa, you'll find your way to the door for the new home collection from UK brand Air Wear, available now.

This week there was an innovative waterless electric diffuser The Atomiser and five essential oil blends and four scented candles. Aromatherapy cleansing products are expected to follow suit in July as part of a collaboration with NYC natural cleansing company The Laundress. At a time when we spend more time indoors than ever before, creating a supportive sanctuary within our four walls is an essential part of our wellbeing.

When, like me, your living room has become a place where you eat, work, exercise, and relax, it becomes increasingly difficult to switch between professional mode and downtime. This is where home fragrances, with their direct effect on our emotional brain - the limbic system - can be used sensibly to solve a problem that we never knew we had until recently.

I've lit candles all day, every day for the past year based on what I liked. The idea behind the new collection from AA is that I can now tailor this experience and break my day with different fragrances in order to improve my work - to give me more energy, to calm myself down, to sharpen my focus, to welcome visitors hot or simply to change a room from the work area to the chill-out area without a trip to Ikea. Since the WFH days seem to merge into one, I used this creative new way of scenting to add some differentiation in my days.

Incredibly, Aromatherapy Associates has been around for 35 years and I have to ask - home care, what has taken you so long? I tested the collection. Here's what's inside and a heads up to the launch offer that can save you $ 50.

This is at the heart of the new collection and really deserves praise as it's waterless (so no moldy reservoirs to clean), fairly quiet (no trickle noises or whirring fans), and doesn't use heat to keep the oils clean - in the Acted very cleverly.

This ceramic tower comes with two diffuser heads that you screw into the oil mixing bottle of your choice and then reinsert. On one charge, you can use 18 hours in standard mode and 15 hours in boost mode. You can choose a setting of 30 minutes, one hour, or three hours so you don't have to worry about burning down the house when you go out. It comes with an empty bottle that you rub with alcohol to clean it, but I think nothing prevents you from mixing your own mixes in it.

My judgment? It's incredibly easy to use, very stylish, and has a soft glow light option. However, it is very strong. Even ten minutes was enough to make my room smell as strong as any candle, and my husband actually asked me to turn it off after two minutes (but I kept him waiting). It works quickly and the £ 25 essential oil bottles last a long time.

I will be taking this with me on my stay - perfect for quickly making a possibly musty smell like home somewhere. It's also great for the office, where fire regulations often don't allow candles.

It's also a good option if you are struggling with essential oils on your skin (a respected gynecologist told me that bathing in essential oils is bad for the microbiome of your “intimate area” and is especially to be avoided if you've had thrush ). The atomizer gives you a sensory bathing experience without aggravating sensitive skin. I especially liked soaking on the Deep Relax oil blend for a few minutes before bed. Who Needs Pillow Spray?

There are five mixtures for your atomizer, all pure essential oils (potency alarm!). They are among the brand's most popular fragrances and can accompany you from morning to evening. My favorite is the Revive mix with neroli, pink grapefruit, and bergamot - for morning yoga and afternoon break-ins. My teens like the Support Breathe mix when overworking as it is great for focus. As a bad sleeper, I've long been a fan of Deep Relax, which was created, but the founder that helps with insomnia. They also added one of the newest mixes, Forest Therapy, which is very grounded with pink pepper and cypress for moments of overwhelm. De-Stress contains soothing chamomile, as well as frankincense, which has been shown to relax the diaphragm to help calm your breathing. Experimenting with them is great fun

The smooth ceramic holders with their raised lettering are a sensory experience in themselves, and that's before you even light them up. I felt like I was just holding her so miraculously that I'd brought my shit together. There are four to choose from in the classic mixes Revive, De-Stress, Deep Relax and the latest mix, Rose. It smells like optimism and feels like a hug in a glass. Again, they are very effective with up to two bottles of essential oils. An hour at a time was enough to smell my large room. Each gives 40 hours of burn time. Are you vegan? Yes, they are made from 100 percent natural soy wax.

Laundress x Aromatherapy Associates cleansing collection from £ 25, starting July 1st

In July, the home care collection will be expanded to include cleaning products in collaboration with the cool laundry The Laundress in NYC. Look for a laundry detergent, dish soap (what they call dish soap), and surface cleaner. I haven't had that in my hands yet, but the prices definitely say "Premium". There's Signature Detergent in Deep Relax & Forest Therapy, £ 35, Surface Cleaner in Support Breathe, £ 25, and Dish Soap in Support Breathe, £ 25.

We hope it will be a pleasure making the beds, dishes and dusting. I have yet to convince myself that £ 25 is an acceptable price for dish soap - but I'll get back to you!
